We are proud to present the Hamburg artist Bertolt Hering fort he first time in a solo show at OsterwaldersArtOffice gallery as part of the der 4. Triennale der Photographie in Hamburg.
Over a period of 5 years Hering explores the colours of landscapes in the changing seasons. On the spot he will mark down the colours according to the internationally widely known NCS-Colour map transforming the notations into a mixture of colour matter and, subsequently into landscape painting. Thus he achieves a state of natural colour sequences and mixtures that are superior to photographic notations – Runges Green instead of Fuji-Green
The exhibition in OsterwaldersArtoffice provides a new aspect to Herings work: in order to get nearer to the shine and brilliance of the colours in natural daylight, Hering is using for this series of painting Rotbuchen (oil on glass) fort he first time light boxes.
The probably most fascinating phenomen in Herings work ist the emotional density that is achieved through the very matter-of-fact „colour data“.
To Herings method please see the video „Farben im Jahreskreis" (colours in annual cycle).

From Bertolt Herings observations in nature insights emerge on how our natural perception of colour is orientated outside, i.e., how we perceive the notion of „Green“.
Bertolt Herings pamphlet for the strenghtening of a good „green“ awarness „Runges Grün instead of Fuji-Grün!“ is available in the download.
Bertolt Hering was born 1961 in Darmstadt, 1981 to 1989 study at the
Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg, has had successes with short films, like
Von den lustigen Dingen (Main price of the Filmothek der Jugend in Oberhausen 1987), was noted for his picture stories Demeters Weg 1999 and, occupies himself since 2003 systematically with natural colours. Bertolt Hering lives and works in Hamburg.
